My mom was visiting recently and during our mother-daughter shopping time I discovered something interesting. The majority of the merchants I made a purchase at asked me if I'd want to get on their mailing list. That is very wise.

Nevertheless, just HOW by which they did this made a positive change in my answer. I said NO to almost all of them since they only didn't ensure it is tempting for me personally. After all, who WOULD LIKE more spam? Therefore if you just ask me if I'd like to be on your mailing list, the answer will often be NO.

But one shop specifically got me. To start with, it had been a designer apparel store I loved. Second, they didn't ask me if I wished to be on the email list. They invited me becoming a 'VIP Client.'

Say the words 'VIP' in my experience and my ears improve. It of course is short for 'essential person.' And generally speaking it suggests a level of respect and benefit. Suddenly I NEEDED to-be on that email list, specially when the salesman explained to me it was included with certain benefits, including early notice on your own purchasing service, new arrivals, and private trunk shows.

And you know what? I would have even paid-to be part of that - to be seen as a VIP.

Example: A buddy of mine recently provided he pays $15,000.00 annually to fit in with the President's Club of a local playhouse, even though he and his wife might attend each show there just for $150.00. Why would a good loyal attendee want to spend 100 times more? Specific therapy like favored sitting, valet parking, encourages to VIP characteristics, individual cafe for members only, marketing using a high level of men and women, an such like.

Still another friend of mine gives for membership at a private club in La through to Sunset Blvd. For most of the same factors (but more so, I believe, since it impresses his times ; ).

My advertising mentor Dan Kennedy taught me there is a segment of virtually EVERY customer or client group or industry who will cheerfully pay FAR above normal prices for special treatment, position, and convenience.

I call it 'state clubbing' your business. Why be the driving range having an hourly cost when you are able be the elegant six-figure account club down the street? You can offer both obviously, but examine what will increase your business FASTER, with higher quality clients and less transactions.

One of these of this is my private Platinum Mastermind pro-gram, which I introduced in 2006 due to over-whelming interest in my own teaching. This group of 1-5 serious small business owners each pay $15,000.00 a year to get better access to me than other people, and in a small group environment where we meet 3 times a year at magnificent 4- and 5-star hotels and resorts.

My Platinums are, primarily, VIPs within my world! And since I maintain a little of mystique concerning the party, people appear to need 'in' even more. (One-of my people got cornered in the ladies room at my last On line Success Blueprint Workshop by many people who required to know how they could enter Platinum!)

I share this to not impress you, but to impress upon you that in market (yes, *yours*) there IS a portion of folks who will gladly spend MORE - much more - for a higher level of support or treatment.
